Navy Team Takes Final Game of Fall World Series

The Navy Team used a 14-hit attack on Sunday afternoon to take the final game of the Fall World Series, 7-1, at Reagan Field.
Tyler Monkman led the offensive charge as he went 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored. Four other players collected a pair of hits as Will Cartwright delivered a home run and Bo Akers doubled and drove in a pair of runs. Wes Cunningham and Jonathan Craycraft each added a pair of singles.
That was more than enough for left hander Anthony Stacy who threw four scoreless innings and struck out four to pick up the victory. Seth McFarlin threw three shutout innings and Brad Rowland gave up one run over the final two innings.
The Gold Team managed 10 hits on the day with Bryan Propst and Chris Craycraft each collecting two hits. Jason Laws plated the only run of the day by delivering a solo home run in the eighth inning.
Jonathan Williams took the loss after giving up four runs on five hits. Lucas Allen got the start and allowed one run over three innings.
The ?Breds open the 2009 season on Feb. 20 when they host South Dakota State in a three-game series at Reagan Field. First pitch is set for 2 p.m.
