After tossing three touchdown passes and leading Murray State to a 24-17 victory over #25 Tennessee State on Saturday, Racer quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt was named the Ohio Valley Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced on Sunday. Ehrhardt shares the award with Eastern Illinois running back Travorus Bess.
Ehrhardt (St. Louis, Mo.) was honored after going 14-for-24 for 141 yards and the three touchdowns. He also ran the ball nine times for 29 yards. The sophomore signal caller started the game by connecting on his first six passes on his way to leading the Racers to a field goal on their opening drive.
Ehrhardt threw his first touchdown pass early in the second quarter as he found Daniel Ard over the middle for the nine-yard scoring strike. With less than 10 seconds remaining in the first half, Ehrhardt found DeAngelo Nelson for the second nine-yard touchdown pass of the game.
After TSU scored on its opening drive of the second half, Ehrhardt led the Racers on a 60 yard drive that ended with a 30 yard touchdown pass to Marcus Harris.
Ehrhardt battled through some injuries in 2008 to finish the season by going 169-for-266 for 1,885 yards and 11 touchdowns. He also ran for 321 yards and two more scores. For his two-year career, Ehrhardt is 405-for-659 for 4,452 yards and 32 touchdowns.
