MSU Track & Field Takes 5th At SIU Event

The Murray State Women's Track and Field Team had an excellent showing at their first scored indoor meet Saturday at Southern Illinois University.
The Racers placed fifth out of 14 teams with 51.33 points, besting three of the four other Ohio Valley Conference teams that competed including Austin Peay, Samford, and Southeast Missouri.
Taylor Crawford captured first place in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.55, after she ran a tough mile, taking fifth place with a time of 5:11.45.
Just in front of Crawford was her freshman teammate Katelyn Jones who took fourth in the mile with a time of 5:09.82. Jones also took second in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:03.49.
In the throws senior teammates Shameka Dial and Dominique Robinson placed high in both the weight throw and in the shot put. Dial placed second in the weight throw with a performance of 17.12m (56' 2”) and placed sixth in the shot put with a throw of 13.66m (44' 9¾”), which was a season personal best.
Robinson took fourth in the weight throw with a performance of 16.68m (54' 8 ¾”) and seventh in the shot put with a throw of 13.54m (44' 5¼”).
In the sprints, freshman Audris Williams shined by making the finals in the 60 meter dash. Taking sixth place, Williams ran a final time of 7.86. She also took ninth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.06 and ran on the 4 X 400 meter team who took seventh place with a time of 4:02.10.
Finally, in jumps Olivia Joseph took tenth with a leap of 5.31m (17' 5 ¼”) and sophomore Chelsea Hosey took eighth in the high jump by clearing a height of 1.53m (5'1/4”).
