'Breds Open OVC Season At Jacksonville State

The Murray State Thoroughbreds open their Ohio Valley Conference season with a three-game series at pre-season favorite Jacksonville State. The teams will play a double-header on Friday, beginning at 1 p.m., and play a single game on Saturday at 1 p.m.
Both teams are working out early-season issues going into the series, with both Murray State (6-6) and Jacksonville State (7-11) dropping three of their last four games. MSU has won four of its last seven games, while the Gamecocks have won four of their last eight.
"I'm anxious to go down there and get started," said MSU head coach Rob McDonald. "Last year, we started the conference season at Samford, and they were picked to win the league. Now, Jacksonville State's picked to win the league, and we start off with them this year. I'm glad to go down there and start with the top and see where we are."
