Spring Practice #3

Murray State took the field for the first time in pads on Friday afternoon as the Racers went through a spirited practice on the turf at Stewart Stadium.
The MSU offense continues to adjust to their new no-huddle spread offense. The quarterbacks and wide receivers seem to be getting on the same page, while the offensive linemen are adapting to the new assignments.
"At first it was a little different coming out with the new offense, but we are getting used to it with the first three practices," said junior offensive lineman Stephen Huff. "Right now it is going pretty good. We just have to keep getting better everyday.
"There are a lot of the same schemes from last year, but with looking at our wrist bands and the no huddle it's a big change from huddling up and getting a break between each play. We did a lot of conditioning in the winter so it is going to help us with the no huddle."
Defense got the early advantage during inside drills, but the offense was able to gain back some confidence during the skeleton period. The defense made their presence felt with some hard hitting, but the receivers bounced back after holding on to the ball.
Practice ended with a short team period that was highlighted by a long run up the middle from senior Paul McKinnis.
The team returns to the field tomorrow morning at 9:30 as the team will hold their first practice in full pads. The practice will be highlighted with a short scrimmage.
