The Murray State Women's Golf team came home with a sixth place finish at the Saluki Invitational Monday at Crab Orchard Golf Course in Carterville, Ill.

The Racers could not better their first day score of 301 and came home with a final round 311 for a team total of 612. Host Southern Illinois shot the best round of the event with a 285 for a winning team score of 584. Illinois State (602) finished second, while Bradley (605), Drake (608), and Northern Iowa (304) rounded out the top five. The Racers 612 total was better than Indiana State (614), Eastern Illinois (619), Creighton (622), and Eastern Kentucky (634) who made up the top-10.

Andrea Downer was the Racers' best finisher coming home in 16^th place after scores of 74-78=152. Joyce Trus, Megan McKinney, and Caroline Lagerborg each finished in 24^th place. Trus had scores of 75-80=155, McKinney carded rounds of 80-75=155, and Lagerborg's 155 came from scores of 77-78. Bethany Yates slipped to 36^th place after she followed her first round 75 with an 83 for 158. Kaysin Hutching finished 76^th with scores of 96-93=189.

The Crab Orchard course played to a par-70 and 5,846 yards.

Murray State has one more tune up event before the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament when they play April 4-6 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. The OVC season-ender is in Florence, Ala. at The Shoals Golf Club April 14-16.
