Racers Fall to Second At OVC Championships

Considering they were once trailing by nine shots on the back nine in round two of the Ohio Valley Conference Women's Tournament, the Murray State Racers will take trailing by four heading into Wednesday's final round in
“We were close to not giving ourselves a chance,” MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman said. “Our team never quits and the way they played the last four holes, we do have a chance.”

The Racers are four shots behind defending champion JSU 627 to 631. The Racers (320-311) are seeking their first OVC championship since they won their third straight in 2004. The Gamecocks (322-305) have won the last three.
The Racers posted four of five scores in the 70's led by Megan McKinney's 76. She is in a tie for first place in the medalist race with JSU's Laura Cutler, each at 154.
Alexandra Hinteregger is in third place after a second straight 78, while Joyce Trus had a 79 and stands in 10th place. Bethany Yates carded a 78 and is in 15th place, while Andrea Downer had an 81 and is in 25th place.
The Racers are in a familiar place, they were also down by four to JSU last year after two rounds, but lost by 16.
“It's all there in front of us,” Velvet Milkman added. “We can win this championship, we just have to come out and play our game, and I have confidence that our team will do that. JSU is the defending champs, they're going to give it all they have too.”
