Racer Golf Plays In Alabama Event

The Murray State Racers fired a first round 327 and stand in ninth place at the Crimson Tide Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

The 54-hole event played at Ol' Colony Golf Complex, is on a course that is 6,033 yards long and a par-72.

The Racers ninth place score is ahead of South Alabama (328) in 10^th, Boston College (332) in 11^th, and Troy (341) in 12^th. The tournament leader and host is Alabama with a score of 300. Samford (304) is in second, while Kentucky (307), Jacksonville State (310), and Mississippi (310) round out the top five.

MSU's Caroline Lagerborg, playing as an individual, is the Racers' best after a first round 79, she's in 25^th place in the field of 69 competitors.

Alexandra Hinteregger is in 35^th place after an 81, teammate Bethany Yates also had an 81. Joyce Trus had an 82 and is in 42^nd place, while Andrea Downer and Megan McKinney each had an 83 and stand in 49^th place.

Round two is Saturday, and the tournament ends on Sunday.

The Racers are using the Alabama event as a tune up for next week's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament in Florence, Ala. at the Shoals Golf Club. The 54-hole conference tournament begins with the first round Monday, April, 21. The winner of the OVC Tournament earns the league's automatic spot in the NCAA's.
