The Murray State Women's Soccer program was named as the 11th most improved team from the 2007 season according to Somis Sports.
In the fall of 2007, MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman saw her team collect a program record 11 wins, the best MSU season since the program launched in 2000. The Racers' win total was six better than in 2006.
"We're excited at the strides we made last season,” Acreman said of the mention by Somis Sports. “The team worked extremely hard and set a strong foundation for this program to advance to higher standards in the future.”
According to Somis Sports the most improved list was formed by comparing a team's final 2007 rating to its final 2006 rating. Additional adjustments based on the 2006 performance and the 2007 schedule strength were also made. A team's rating roughly equates to net goals (goals scored minus goals against).
Acreman says her team is having a productive spring season.
“It is a credit to our players to be ranked in this category and we hope to continue this upward trend in the coming season," Acreman said.
