The Murray State football team battled through the heat on Tuesday afternoon as they conducted their first workout in helmets and shoulder pads on the practice fields behind Stewart Stadium.
The team went through a spirited workout that began with conditioning and went through individual work before concluding with a short team period.
"I think the kids played excited for the first three quarters of the practice and the heat caught up to them a little bit at the end," said head coach Matt Griffin. "I liked the fight through the finish in the team period and that was very encouraging. We had some guys come out and make some plays. We need to keep battling. Camp is mental toughness, more so than physical. As coaches we need to keep pushing and keep demanding."
The Racers return to the practice field tomorrow afternoon as they hit the field at 4:05 p.m.
