The Murray State football team battled through some heat and humidity on Wednesday afternoon as the team wrapped up their second practice of Fall camp.
The team continued to work on their conditioning, was well as with their position coaches. The offense and defense were pitted against each other during the inside run, while the lines went head-to-head in pass rush drills. On the other end of the field the offensive skill guys took on the linebackers and secondary in the perimeter drill.
"The thing I liked most about today is how much they competed," said head coach Matt Griffin. We went right into seven-station agility again today and they understood the drill better today. They have been oblivious to the heat and they have to keep taking care of the task at hand. They are focussing on what they can control."
The team will pick up the intensity on Thursday as the team will conduct its first day of two-a-days.
"The first day of two-a-days is going to be a challenge to wake them up and go," said Griffin. "The past two days they have been able to wake up and get into meetings and a walk through, which is a much slower tempo. Tomorrow we get to hit the ground running.
It is going to be a challenge for us as a coaching staff. If we don't demand we aren't going to get. You can guarantee come seven o'clock everybody is going to be running around here pretty good."
The team will take to the practice field at 8:15 a.m. for the first practice, with the second practice set for 4:05 p.m.
