MSU?s Griffin Issued One-Game Suspension by OVC

Murray State football coach Matt Griffin has been suspended one game by the Ohio Valley Conference for comments made during his postgame press conference following the Illinois State game. Griffin will serve the suspension when the Racers travel to Western Kentucky on Sept. 20.

Statement from Director of Athletics Allen Ward:
"I expect all of our coaches and students athletes to represent Murray State and the OVC with the highest of standards. Not doing so often results in consequences that are not to anyone's liking. Rules regarding public comment on officiating are clear and the avenues for appeal are available. This is an unfortunate incident and I apologize for any embarrassment this has caused our university, the OVC, and the football program and its fans. I do not expect that it will happen again."
