STORY LINES
Saturday's game will be the 67th meeting between the two former Ohio Valley Conference rivals. The Hilltoppers hold a 35-24-7 advantage in the series.
The majority of the meetings came while both school's were members of the OVC. WKU was a member from 1948-81, then 1999-2000.
The teams are meeting for the first time since 2002 when they met in the first round of the FCS playoffs in Bowling Green. WKU won 59-20 in route to the national championship.
The two teams played for "The Red Belt" beginning in 1978. The traveling trophy was started by the schools' athletic trainers.
MSU senior linebacker Nathan Williams was named the National FCS Defensive Player of the Week by The Sports Network after registering 23 tackles against Illinois State.

The Murray State football team closes out the non-conference season as it travels to take on long-time rival Western Kentucky University on Sept. 20 at 6 p.m.
Williams finished the game with 23 tackles, a sack and a fumble recovery.
