MSU Men's Golf In First Place On The Beach

The Murray State men's golf team began play Friday at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate in Sunset Beach, N.C. and finished the first of three days of play in first place in the field of 18 teams.

The Racers' round one score of 295 was one shot better than Setson (296) and three shots better than Wofford (298) and South Carolina Upstate (298).

Leading the way for MSU was Hunter Ford who fired a one-under 71 and stood in fourth place in the field of 96 student-athletes.

Nick Newcomb and Cameron Carrico each had 74 and stood in 20^th place. Jared Wolfe was in 35^th place after a 76, while Chris Griffin stood in 53^rd place with a 78.

Mitchell Moore is playing as an individual and had the lowest MSU score of the day with a two-under 70 and a spot in second place.

North Carolina-Pembroke (299), Elon (299), Bethune-Cookman (30), Appalachian State (301), Belmont Abbey (302), and Tennessee Tech (302) rounded out the top 10.

The Racers play 18 holes on Saturday and finish the event Sunday.
