MSU Soccer Wins OVC Opener 1-0 At SEMO

The Murray State Women's Soccer team opened Ohio Valley Conference play Friday with a 1-0 victory at
The Racers were able to knock off the defending OVC champions with a great night of defense and ball control.
“This was a fantastic team win,” MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman said. “Everything seemed to click tonight and everyone was on their game, this was a big game and the team came through.”
The Racers out shot SEMO 10-5 for the game and led 7-4 in shots on goal.
Tara Isbell got the win for the Racers in goal, her third shut out of 2008 and the seventh of her career. She had three saves.
“Our defense played great all night,” Acreman added. “Our back line worked well together.”

The Racers are 1-0 in the OVC and 5-4-1 overall.
“We know this first OVC weekend can give us a good start,” Acreman added. “But we know we have a lot of hard work ahead of us and we need to keep our eye on the next challenge Sunday.”
