Racer Soccer To Host Hampton Inn Classic

The Murray State Women's Soccer team continues its season-opening home stand Friday and Sunday when they host the Hampton Inn Classic at Cutchin Field.
The Racers welcome three teams to the event including, North Carolina-Asheville, Southern Illinois-Edwardsville, and UT Martin.
Here is the weekend schedule.
Friday
UT Martin vs SIU-E, 2 p.m.
Sunday
UT Martin vs UNCA 12 p.m.
Admission is free.
The championship of the Hampton Inn Classic will be decided by the following points system.
3 points Win
1-point Tie
1-point Goal scored
(Max of three per match)
1-point Shutout
There is a maximum of seven points per match a team can earn if they win the match, score at least three goals and post a shutout.

Weekend Match Notes
The Racers are meeting the UNCA Bulldogs and the Cougars of SIU-E for the first time. SIU-E was accepted as a member of the Ohio Valley Conference this summer and will begin playing as a soccer member in 2011 and be eligible for postseason competition in 2012.

The Racers have outscored their opponents this season 8-6 and have a 75-28 lead in shots. MSU has a 33-16 edge in shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Tara Isbell has spent all 360 minutes in goal for MSU in the four matches and has a goals against average of 1.50.
Sophie Hargreaves and Kalli McCoy lead the Racers with two goals each, both scored their goals in MSU's win over MVSU. Rachel Wright, Jenna Fioranelli, Nicole Evans, and Melissa Curry have all scored on goal each.
Wright was the Ohio Valley Conference's Co-Player of the Week after she scored the winning goal in the 58th minute of the Racers' match last Sunday with IUPUI.
MSU is 11-11-1 at Cutchin Field since 2006.
