The NSCAA recognition marks the second straight season MSU Soccer has been honored.
According to the NSCAA, the Racers are part of a group of 122 women's teams that posted a team grade point average of 3.30 or higher.
The awards were determined by grades from the 2007-08 academic year.
MSU Head Coach Beth Acreman has built her program on excellent play on the field, but also in the classroom.
"It is great that we have been recognized again for the outstanding work the team is achieving in the classroom,” Acreman said. “Our success this season on the field paired with a high level of academic excellence is something we are very proud of.”
Acreman points to MSU's total athletics program as instrumental in their success.
“We have excellent academic counselors in our athletic department, people who are committed to seeing our student-athletes achieve in the classroom,” Acreman said. “This award is a tribute to those who support our student-athlete's academic responsibilities."
The Racers had a fantastic 2008 season last fall when they won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title for the first time in program history and posted a program record 12 wins.
