Navy Wins Series With 5-2 Victory Saturday

The Navy Team captured the Navy-Gold World Series by virtue of their 5-2 victory Saturday afternoon at Reagan Field.

Gold (0-2) got on the board in the first as Brandon Elliot was hit by a pitch and advanced on a Jonathan Craycraft single. Brian Propst drove in the run with a base hit to right field.

Navy (2-0) took the lead in the third as Elliot Frey delivered an RBI base hit and a second run came around to score on an error.

Gold tied the game in the top of fourth as Wes Cunningham singled and stole second before scoring on a Drew Pixley base hit.

The Navy team took the lead for good in the fifth on a Frey RBI base hit and then added two more runs in the sixth for the 5-2 victory.

Dan Huff (1-0) picked up the victory after allowing two runs on four hits and four strikeouts over five innings. Jake Donze (0-1) took the loss after giving five runs, two earned, on seven hits over 5.1 innings.

The two teams close out the series Sunday afternoon at 1:30.
