Downer in first, Carrico fourth at APSU Intercollegiate

The Murray golf squads each had a spot in the top-10 at the Austin Peay Intercollegiate which is being played in two locations.
The MSU women's team was in fifth place in a field of 17 teams at Clarksville CC in Clarksville, Tenn., with one round to play Tuesday.
The men's team from MSU had a spot in seventh place in a field of 17 squads in Hopkinsville, Ky., at the Links at Novadell GC.
WOMEN'S WRAP
The Racers' 324 on Monday was good for a tie for fifth place with WKU and a shot behind fourth place Tennessee Tech at 323. Butler (322) and Houston Baptist (320), trailed leader Morehead State who fired a 316.
Andrea Downer was in the lead in the medalist competition with a 3-over 75, while Morgan Cross had a spot in 14th place after an 80. Megan McKinney's 84 earned a spot in 36th place, while Jilian Brake had an 85 and was in 44th place in the field of 93 competitors. Alex Hinteregger was in 65th place after an 88.
The Clarksville CC is playing 5,960 yards to a par of 72.
MEN'S WRAP
The Racer men's team carded scores of 295-290=585 on Monday and stood in seventh place, two shots behind fifth place Jacksonville State at 583. Towson was the leader with a 575, while Eastern Kentucky (576), Oakland (576), Western Illinois (579) and Austin Peay (580) made up the top five.
MSU's Cameron Carrico was in fourth place in the medalist standings after rounds of 70-71 for a 3-under 144, while Nick Newcomb was in 21st position after scores of 74-72=146. Jared Wolfe had a spot in 53rd along with teammate Patrick Newcomb. Wolfe carded rounds of 76-74=150, while Newcomb had scores of 77-73=150. Chris Griffin was in 62nd place in the field of 93 players after scores of 75-77=152.
Tyler Brown is playing the APSU event as an individual and was in 39th place after rounds of 77-71=148.
The men's portion of the APSU Intercollegiate ends with the final 18 holes Tuesday.
The Links at Novadell GC is playing 6,841 yards and a par of 72.
