Racers Soccer Handed First Conference Loss, 2-0

The Murray State Women's Soccer team fell to 4-6-1 overall and 2-1 in the OVC as they dropped their first conference match of the season, 2-0, to UT Martin this afternoon in Martin, Tenn.
The Racers played through wet and sloppy conditions this afternoon and were never able to get on track as UT Martin controlled the first half. The Skyhawks got on the board in the 20th minute off of their lone corner kick of the half. Danielle Rogers hauled in the corner and found Brooke Robertson as she put the ball in the back of the net from point blank range. Jenni Duffy expanded the lead to 2-0 as she lofted a shot over Katie Walsh for her second goal of the season.
The Skyhawks out shot the Racer 6-3 in the half.
The Racers fired off five shots in the second half but couldn't slip anything past Aubrey Buehler as she stopped the three Racers shots on goal. Tara Isbell replacaed Walsh in net and stopped the four Skyhawks shot on goal in the half.
Walsh was handed the loss in net as she fell to 4-3-1 overall after allowing two goals and recording one save. Rachel Wright and Sophie Hargreaves led the Racers with two shots a piece.
MSU will return home Friday, Oct. 9th as they will host Southeast Missouri State at 3 p.m. at Cutchin Field.
