Tara Isbell made a brilliant diving save in the 3rd minute to keep the score tied 0-0 in the early minutes of the game. Kalli McCoy had a great scoring chance in the 14th minute of play as she dribbled to the top of the box and let loose a shot that sailed just wide of the goal. SIUE got on the board in the 40th minute off of a penalty kick by Kelley Humphrey to give the Cougars the 1-0 lead.
The Cougars held a 5-4 edge in shots during the first 45 minutes of play. Maja Nordahl lead the Racers with two shots during the period while Isbell tallied three saves.
MSU got on the board in the 65th minute of play as Rachel Wright scored her first goal of the season. Nicole Evans played a through pass to Wright, who put a shot just over the goalkeeper's head to knot things up 1-1. SIUE answered back though and scored the eventual game winning goal in the 88th minute of play as Brittany Bodziak scored on a cross from Kiara Akpore to give the Cougars the 2-1 lead.
Isbell took the loss in goal and fell to 3-4-1 overall as she allowed two goals and recorded six saves.
