Racers Soccer Team Named Pepsi Athlete of the Week

After winning the program's first Ohio Valley Conference Tournament Championship, the Murray State Women's Soccer team has been named the Pepsi Athlete of the Week winner.

The Racers tallied three-straight shutouts during the tournament as they opened play Thursday against Eastern Kentucky. MSU defeated EKU 1-0 to advance to the semi-finals against UT Martin. The Racers would defeat the Skyhawks by the same 1-0 margin before facing off against Tennessee Tech in the finals. MSU would earn their first trip to the NCAA Tournament as they defeated the Golden Eagles 4-0, which was the largest margin of victory in OVC Soccer Championship history.

The Racers now prepare for their first NCAA Tournament apperance as they head to Dayton, Ohio to take on Virgina Tech. Game time is set for 4 p.m. central time, Friday, Nov. 13.
