Su and Guo Earn OVC Player of the Week Honors

For the first time this season the Murray State volleyball team has had two players earn Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week Honors. Sophomore Logan Su was named the OVC Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Jade Guo was named the OVC Setter of the Week. The honor is the first for Su in her career and the second on the season and sixth overall for Guo.
Su hit .488 for the week with just one error in five of Murray State's six sets played. The A La Shan Zuo Qui, Inner Mongolia, China native also added three digs and four blocks. She recorded a season-best 17 kills against UT Martin and hit a career-high .607, marking the best hitting percentage for a Racer with 25 or more attempts.
Guo helped pace the team to the two best single match hitting percentages of the season and a .408 mark in two matches. Murray State hit .396 against UT Martin and .421 versus SIU Edwardsville. The .421 mark was the fifth-best team hitting percentage in a three-match set at home for the Racers. The DaTong, Shanxi, China native dished out 81 assists over the two matches or 13.50 per set.
The Racers face Southeast Missouri State, Tuesday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in the final home match of the 2009 campaign. MSU will finish out the regular-season on the road this weekend, with matches against Tennessee State (Nov. 13 at 7 p.m.) and Austin Peay (Nov. 14 at 2 p.m.).
