The Racers fired a team 287 in round one, ahead of second place EKU at 292. APSU was third at 293, and
MSU's effort was charged by a 3-under 69 by Jared Wolfe, and a 1-under 71 from Cameron Carrico as the pair had first and fourth place after the first 18 holes.
Mitchell Moore was in seventh after an even-par 72, while Nick Newcomb carded a 75 for 16th place, and Hunter Ford a 79 for 19th place in the field of 23 players.
MSU's Chris Griffin is playing the tournament as an individual and was in seventh place after a 72.
