is reflected in the fact that overall, the department has a GPA over 3.0, with

Several teams have been honored outside the University for their
Athletic Accomplishments. The women's golf team has been ranked again within
the top-10 teams in the country in terms of GPA and the women's soccer team has been recognized by the American Soccer
Coaches Association as having one of the best team GPA's in the country.

award is the highest individual honor that can be earned by an OVC student-athlete
and is given to three men and three women of junior or senior status who have
accomplishments both in the classroom and athletic arena, as well as leadership
qualities.
Amber and Paige Guffey were also surprised with the announcement
that earlier that day they had both earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America First Team
honors and that Amber Guffey had earned the prestigious ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America of
the Year honor for women's basketball university division. The Academic All-America First Team awards
were the first for women's basketball and just the fourth for the school. Including the two awards received this
season, only 10 Murray State student-athletes have earned Academic All-America
honors for any team.
The Academic All-America of the Year award is the first for Murray State in any sport.
