Spring Practice #2

The speed and intensity picked up Thursday morning as Murray State took the field for their second practice of the Spring. The Racers conducted their second of two mandatory practices without pads.
“I am real excited about the way they are coming out early in the morning,” said head coach Matt Griffin. “Our kids have become accustomed to this. We gauge this based on their enthusiasm and that is great to see.”
The Races continued to work on all phases of the game. The team begins every practice by working on special teams before breaking up and working with their respected position coach.
The final portion of practices pits the offensive and defensive lines going one-on-one, while the other side of the field pits the skill position guys going head-to-head.
The Racers will adorn the pads for the first time Friday and the battle for starting positions should intensify.
“Tomorrow we will put the pads on and it will be more competitive and more physical,” said Griffin. “They are ready for that, as you saw at the end of skelly when it got a little bit salty on both sides, and it should. That is just guys competing and we like to see that. Tomorrow will be a little bit faster and I am excited to see how we come out.”
