Spring Practice #4

Murray State closed out its first week of Spring practice with a
scrimmage Saturday morning inside Stewart Stadium. The team went
through a normal practice before ending the practice with the short
scrimmage.
"I really like the intensity for the first scrimmage," said head coach Matt Griffin. "For the first time in a few years, we actually went through half a practice, and that was new to us. I really like the way the kids handled it. We were out there for about two-and-a-half hours and I loved the enthusiasm to the end, it was very important to see."
The Racers made plays on both sides of the ball as the offense struck first with a scoring drive that ended with a Charlie Jordan touchdown run. The score was set up on a pass down the middle from quarterback Jeff Ehrhardt to tight end DeAngelo Nelson.
The defense got into the mix a short time later as Austen Lane intercepted a batted ball and returned it to the four-yard line.
The offense was able to drive down the field a second time for a Prince Nwagbara rushing touchdown.
The Racers return to the field Tuesday morning at 5:30 a.m.
Coach Griffin on the first week of practice
"The first week was good. I said from the beginning that I really like the excitement. Our collisions are outstanding and that is a credit to our strength coach and the conditioning program. The faster you run the harder you hit."
