Spring Practice #6
4/2/2009 5:00:00 AM | Football
The pads continued to pop Thursday morning as the Racers conducted their sixth practice of the spring Thursday morning inside Stewart Stadium.
“Good tempo this morning. We gave them the afternoon off yesterday and the kids came out fresh today,” said head coach Matt Griffin. “I was really pleased from an assignment stand point on both sides of the football. I like the way we started practice with the kicking game and I thought the enthusiasm was excellent. We just have to keep building on it.”
Players on both sides of the ball continued to step up on both sides of the football as Darrell Davis intercepted a pass in the endzone during 2-on-2 drills, while Marcus Harris made an outstanding leaping catch in coverage during skelly.
On the other end of the field, the offensive and defensive line continued to push each other during one-on-one and pass under pressure drills.
“We have continued to insert more on both sides of the ball and guys are obviously more comfortable,” said Griffin. “I just think we are a lot faster and they continue to make plays when they appear.”
The Racers return to the field tomorrow afternoon at 4 p.m. at Stewart Stadium.
