MSU Finishes Day One At NCAA Women's Golf Tournament

The Murray State Racers carded a 322 in round one of the NCAA Women's Golf Tournament Central Regional in
The Racers earned a spot in the NCAA's after taking the Ohio Valley Conference Championship April 25.
The central regional is being hosted by
Meagan McKinney is MSU's top scorer after the first 18 holes with a 75 and a spot in 23rd place in the field of 107 competitors.
Joyce Trus is in 69th place after a 79, while Andrea Downer, Morgan Cross and Bethany Yates each carded an 84 and share 92nd place.
MSU Head Coach Velvet Milkman knows her team can play better.
“We didn't play to our potential and that was disappointing,” Milkman said. “But I did see some positives our there and one of the best things I saw was how we dug in on the second nine holes and played a lot better.”
“I was glad to see us end the round on a good note,” Milkman said. “What I want to see us do in round two is bring that positive back to the course and play better. I want to see us come out in the morning with more confidence and play the kind of golf I know we are capable of playing.”
UCLA is the first round leader after a 284.
UCLA has the top three spots in the medalist race.

There are 21 teams at this regional with the top eight squads advancing to the NCAA finals.

The Racers play from the 10th hole Friday starting at 7:50 a.m.
