Murray State Soccer Head Coach Beth Acreman announced the hiring of assistant coach Jeremy Iwaszkowiec.
He joins the Racer program after two seasons as head coach at Crichton College in Memphis, Tenn., and a brilliant career as a player.
Acreman said Iwaszkowiec (pronounced: E-vash co-vee-its) will help the Racers in many areas of the game.
"I'm excited to have Jeremy join our staff,” Acreman said. “He is someone who can help take us to the next level using his experience as a player and coach. I think he will compliment our staff and I'm looking forward to working with him."
Iwaszkowiec admired Acreman and the MSU program she built into an Ohio Valley Conference champion.
“I've seen the improvement the Racers have made in the three seasons Beth has been here and I'm excited to be part of that,” Iwaszkowiec said. “I'm looking forward to working with our student-athletes.”
Prior to coaching at Crichton, Iwaszkowiec grew up playing in the soccer hotbed of St. Louis, Mo.
He competed for Francis Howell North High School and won many awards including St. Louis Metro High School Player of the Year and Missouri High School Player of the Year.
He was an All-American selection by both the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and Parade.
Iwaszkowiec played at Clemson where he was key contributor on two teams that reached the NCAA Quarterfinals.
In 1998, Clemson was the No. 1 ranked team in the nation for much of a 22-2 season.
Iwaszkowiec was drafted by the Minnesota Thunder of the USL, but chose to pursue a professional occupation.
While working in the private sector, Iwaszkowiec coached various club and high school teams before coaching at Crichton.
He completed a degree in marketing at Clemson in 1999 and earned a master's degree in theology from Bethel Seminary (MN) in 2006.
Jeremy and his wife Shannon have a daughter, Irene (1).
