The temperatures continued to rise as the Murray State football team took to the field for a pair of practices Monday on the turf at Stewart Stadium. The Racers conducted the morning practice in shells before donning full pads for the first time this afternoon.
Special teams and continued installation of the offense and defense were the main focus in the morning, while the afternoon session focused on execution on the field.
The Racers return to the field in full pads Tuesday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
Head Coach Matt Griffin
On Monday's Practices:
“I am really excited with the way we practiced, considering it was just over 104 degrees at the start of practice. I think our kids worked through it and it wasn't a factor. We didn't have a lot of mental busts and that goes back to conditioning. We just have to keep continuing to improve everyday. We still make mistakes and that is why we practice. We're not making the same ones over and over, which is a good thing, because our kids are taking to coaching.”
On Progress Made So Far:
“We are just continuing to improve each day. We inserted more with each practice and we will continue to do that into practice five tomorrow. Once you start doing that there is more of a mental strain on them so we will see how much they can absorb.”
