The Murray State football team put an end to preseason camp as the Racers conducted their third scrimmage of the preseason Saturday morning at Stewart Stadium.
The first and second team were limited in reps to give a chance for the younger guys to get out there and showcase what they can do.
“It was a good scrimmage. The goal was to make sure everybody got reps,” said head coach Matt Griffin. “We limited the first and second groups and really focused on the young kids to let them get some live scrimmage reps before we get into the season.”
“I really like the enthusiasm on both sides of the ball. We just have to keep playing. The biggest concern throughout the course of the year, as it is every year, is certainly our health.”
The Racers will begin their normal weekly routine in preparation for the 2009 season opener against Kentucky Wesleyan Sept. 3 at 7 p.m.

On Preseason Camp:
“We got great production on both sides of the football and we got better as a team. I was really pleased with the way the kicking game came along. We formed up some depth charts and there is going to be some changes after today, even though it was limited reps. Now it is get them set and ready to go for Kentucky Wesleyan.”
