The Murray State Women's Soccer team improved to 4-4-1 overall and 2-0 in the OVC as they closed out there weekend road trip by defeating Tennessee Tech, 3-1, in Cookeville, Tenn.
Nicole Evans got the scoring started for the Racers in the eighth minute, as she fired a shot into the top left corner of the net from about 15 yards out off an assist from Audrey Wilson. Evans assisted on Danielle McMurray's goal in the 21st minute to put the Racers ahead 2-0, and Rachel Longley scored a unassisted goal off a rebound in front of the net to put MSU up 3-0 heading into the half.
Andrea Meloff would bring the Golden Eagles within two, as she converted on a penalty kick in the 49th minute of play. The Racer defense was too much though as they held TTU to nine shots on the day, with only two of them being on goal.
The Racer offense once again outshot the opposition, this time by an 18-9 margin.
Katie Walsh continues to find success in net as she improved to 4-1-1 in goal. Walsh tallied one save today.
The Racers will return to the field Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. as they travel to Indianapolis, Ind. to take on non-conference opponent IUPUI.
