Racer Men Eyeing UTM Title - Newcomb & Ford Share Second

SKYHAWK CLASSIC RESULTS
The Murray State men's golf squad will go head-to-head with Central Arkansas Tuesday for the championship of the UTM Skyhawk Classic at Paris Landing State Park in Paris, Tenn.
The Racers, who carded rounds of 286-278=564 on Monday, will try and overcome a six-shot deficit of leader UCA that recorded scores of 281-277=558 on the Paris Landing course that is playing to a par-72 at 6,685 yards.
MSU's Patrick Newcomb and Hunter Ford are tied for second (one shot off the lead) in the field of 81 players. Newcomb had scores of 71-68=139, while Ford had scores of 70-69=139, each are 5-under-par and chasing Steve Lecuyer of
Central Arkansas who had rounds of 72-66=138.
Racer senior Cameron Carrico is in fifth place with scores of 72-68=140, while Dustin Gosser had a spot in 28th place with rounds of 73-73=146. William Hunt was in 74th place after scores of 83-73=156.
MSU's second team was in a tie for seventh place with Southern Illinois at 590.
Hunter York led the way with a spot in 15th after rounds of 72-71=143, while Lars King was in 30th place with scores of 74-73=147. Tyler Brown had a spot in 36th place with scores of 74-75=149, while Grant Price was in 55th place with scores of 76-75=151.
Host UTM was in third place at 572, with Evansville (581), John A. Logan (583), Union (TN) (586), SIU and MSU's second team, Jackson State (593) and the trio of Lipscomb, Valparaiso and the UTM second team making up the top-10.
The final round at Paris Landing is scheduled for completion Tuesday morning.
