The Murray State women's cross country team placed two runners in the top 10 and finished second overall Saturday afternoon at the 2010 Evansville Invitational hosted by the University of Evansville.
The Racers, who finished first last year at the Evansville Invite, were led by senior Asenath NaAman. She paced the Racer contingent with a time of 18:54.34 to finish in eighth. Senior Katelyn Jones returned from her individual win two weeks ago at the Tennessee Tech Invite to finish one spot behind in ninth, completing the 5k course in 18:56.20. Junior Kayla Crusham followed seven places back, finishing with a time of 19:12.81 to place in 16th. Junior Karissa Magnuson placed 27th in 19:31.07 with freshman Bernadette Catron two spots behind in 29th with a time of 19:37.54. Junior Bridget Stitchnot finished in 19:49.31 to place in 33rd with junior Jami Kloenne running in 20:44.31 to come in 54th as the final Murray State entry to count towards the team total. Freshman Kourtney Covatch (22:10.19) and Shelby Jenkins (22:22.74) rounded out the MSU entries.
Derek Perry led the men's squad, finishing in 27:14.41 to place in 63rd. Jordan Althoff finished in 96th with a time of 28:40.90 on the 8k circuit. Ryan Johnson finished 10 spots behind Althoff, scoring in 106th in 29:12.45. Andy Pack ran in 29:16.95 to finish two spots behind in 108th. Remi DoMoney (30:36.06) and Trent Scott (38:22.60) were the final Racer runners on the men's side.
Murray State returns to action in two weeks, traveling to Cookeville, Tenn., for the 2010 Ohio Valley Conference Championships hosted by Tennessee Tech.
