Racers Men's Golf Hosting MSU Invitational Monday At Miller Memorial

MSU INVITATIONAL HISTORY
The Murray State men's golf team plays host to its MSU Invitational Monday and Tuesday at their home course, Miller Memorial GC in Murray, Ky.
Joining two MSU teams in this year's event are teams from Belmont and Lipscomb plus three Ohio Valley Conference teams including UT Martin (two teams entered), Morehead State and Tennessee Tech. NAIA squads from Union (TN), Bethel, Lambuth and Bresica are also in the field.
Murray State senior Cameron Carrico will compete in the event with his brother Chase, a freshman at Brescia.
The MSU Invitational format calls for 36 holes of play Monday starting at 8:30 a.m., with the final 18 holes on Tuesday with an 8:30 a.m. start.
The Racers' Blue team includes Cameron Carrico, Patrick Newcomb, William Hunt, Hunter Ford and Dustin Gosser, while the MSU Gold squad consists of Lars King, Hunter York, Tyler Brown and Grant Price.
MSU's Blue team has already won an event this fall by 40 shots when they took the Wasioto Winds Fall Kickoff where Newcomb was the individual winner. MSU also finished ninth at the UL Cardinal Intercollegiate.
The Racers were ranked 87th in the nation in the latest Golf Week college poll.
Murray State is going for their seventh straight championship of their home event since it was started in 2004.
MSU had a 1-2 finish in 2009 when the MSU Blue team won the event by three shots over the MSU Gold team. Nick Newcomb was the medalist of the event that was cut to 36 holes because of rain.
