Racers Wrap Up Fall Season At Stetson Invitational

STETSON INVITATIONAL RESULTS
The Murray State men's golf team wrapped up the fall portion of the 2010-11 season with a seventh place finish at the Stetson Invitational at Victoria Hills GC in DeLand, Fla.
The Racers carded scores of 307-298-299=904 to finish ahead of eighth place Lipscomb (931) and behind sixth place Florida Atlantic (902).
Cameron Carrico was MSU's top finisher with an 11th place showing in the field of 50 players with rounds of 69-72-77=218, while Dustin Gosser placed 17th with scores of 79-74-73=226. Hunter York came home in 22nd place with scores of 78-76-73=227, while Patrick Newcomb and Hunter Ford shared 36th place. Newcomb recorded rounds of 84-77-76=237, while Ford had 81-76-80=237.
Florida Gulf Coast was the winner at 857, while Jacksonville State (867), Stetson (878), USC Upstate (867) and Bethune-Cookeman (895) rounded out the top-5.
The Racers are finished with the fall season and had some productive events, including winning two titles at Wasioto Winds Fall Kick-off (Sep 14) and their own MSU Invitational (Oct. 5). MSU also had a second place finish (Oct. 12) at the UTM Skyhawk Invitational.
MSU's first time out in the spring is in Birmingham, Ala., at the Samford Intercollegiate.
The Racers will have five spring events to prepare for the OVC Championship (April 25) at Greystone GC in Dickson, Tenn. MSU won the team title last spring for the first time since 1991.
