Late Inning Scoring Gives Navy Seals Victory in Decisive Game

Donze throws six shutout innings to earn victory
The Navy Seals got a strong pitching performance from left hander Jake Donze, and used a five-run fifth inning to defeat the Gold Team, 7-0, in the fifth and deciding game of the Fall World Series Thursday afternoon at Reagan Field.
Donze was dominant from start to finish as he surrendered a two-out infield single in the first and then allowed just two more base runners over his six innings of work. He finished the game by allowing just the two hits and striking out six over six innings.
Left hander Bryan Babin matched wits with Donze as the junior allowed two hits over four shutout innings.
The Navy Seals got to the Gold bullpen in the fifth inning as a leadoff walk and a stolen base put a runner in scoring position. Jordan Queen plated the runner with a base hit just inside the bag at first base. Bo Akers followed with a single through the right side to put runners on the corners. A fielding error loaded the bases and Elliot Frey drove in a run with a fielder's choice. A wild pitch scored another run ahead of back-to-back run-scoring singles from Jacob Rhodes and Tyler Beers.
Clay Fuson started a two-out rally in the sixth for the Navy Seals with a single to third. A throwing error kept the inning alive and Brandon Elliott loaded the bases with a bunt single. A pair of wild pitches plated two runs, and Rhodes drove in a third with a single through the right side.
