Andrew Mitchell Signs With Murray State Golf

Murray State men's golf coach Eddie Hunt announced the signing of Andrew Mitchell from Benton High School in Benton, Ill.
Mitchell was runner-up in the Illinois Class-A state golf tournament last fall and is set to join the MSU team in the fall of 2011 as a freshman.
In the summer of 2010, Mitchell finished eighth at the Southern Illinois Golf Association Championship with scores of 77-70-72=219 and placed 24th at the U.S. Junior Qualifier with scores of 78-75-71=224.
He also posted three top-15 finishes in four appearances on the Plantations Junior Golf Tour.
As a junior at Benton HS in 2009, Mitchell finished in a tie for first at the Illinois Regional with scores of 70-70=140 and he placed second at the PGA Junior Series event in St. Louis, Mo., with scores of 77-74-78-72=301.
As a sophomore, he won the Illinois Regional title with scores of 70-72-142.
“We're very pleased that Andrew is joining our program,” MSU Head Coach Eddie Hunt said. “He's got an all-around game and I think he'll be an excellent addition to the players already in our program.”
