Gina Nuzzo Signs With Murray State Golf

Murray State Women's Golf Coach Velvet Milkman announced the signing of Gina Nuzzo of Ballard High School in Louisville, KY.

Nuzzo is coming off a senior season where she won all ten dual matches she played for Ballard High School with a 37.1 stroke average. She played in six high school invitational tournaments, earning four top five finishes, including medalist honors at the Henry County Invitational where she carded a career low 69.

One of the highlights of her senior season was being one of twelve first tee Participants to receive an invitation to participate in the LPGA MARS Challenge played at Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Arkansas September 10-11, 2010 .

She competed in a best ball event with LPGA players Catriona Matthew of Scotland and Mi Hyu Kim of South Korea. Her team shot rounds of 65-67 to finish fourth.

In the summer of 2010, Nuzzo, qualified for the championship flight of the Women's Kentucky State Amateur and earned her way to the quarterfinals of the consolation bracket. She also earned a fourth place finish in the Kentucky Junior Amateur with rounds of 80-74.

In 2009, Nuzzo, won the week long Falls City Invitational Match Play Championship. Her other win included taking the title at the AAU Nationals in Birmingham, Alabama. She also competed in the Kentucky Women's State Amateur and earned a fourth place finish in the Kentucky Junior Amateur with scores on 79-78.

“I am very excited to have Gina join our Racer Golf family. She is a person of strong character, a good student, and a talented golfer," Milkman said. "Gina is very athletic and has tremendous upside potential. Her best golf is certainly ahead of her. She is the type of golfer that will help our program continue our success both on the golf course and in the classroom.”

Gina, who will be the first left handed golfer in the programs history, also competed in track and field at Ballard High School.
