MSU Athletics Celebrates Classroom Success

Murray State Athletics celebrated success in the classroom for the 2008-09 school year when 104 Ohio Valley Commissioner's Honor Roll and 11 OVC Medal of Honor winners were recognized at halftime of the Racers' game Feb. 16 at the Regional Special Events Center.
Here are some of the achievements for MSU in the 2008-09 school year.
Men's Basketball earned the OVC team Academic Achievement Award
Women's Golf was recognized by the Women's Golf Coaches Association for its academic excellence.
Women's Soccer was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for its academic excellence
Rachel Isom of women's basketball was named to the ESPN Academic All District team.
Five student-athletes were named Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Foundation Academic Scholars: Adriana Alvarez WTE, Jadir Semensin MTE, Amber Mills WTR, Angela McGahee WTE, and Jasmyne Thornton WBB.
Georges Fotso was named Outstanding International Business Graduate.
Several teams have won the OVC team Sportsmanship Award.
Wes Cunningham of baseball was named to the ESPN Academic All District team.
Murray State Athletics had a grade point average above 3.00 for the entire year.
