Racer Golf Picked Co-Favorite In OVC Preseason Poll

The Murray State men's golf team, which finished second last season, have been picked as the team to beat in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll along with co-first place selection Eastern Kentucky. The Racers received four first place votes while EKU had three and Austin Peay (the 2009 OVC champion) had two first place votes to earn third place in the poll.

Jacksonville State was fourth in the poll, with Tennessee Tech claiming fifth and Morehead State sixth place. Eastern Illinois, UT Martin and Tennessee State rounded out the preseason predictions.

The Racers are under the direction of Eddie Hunt who is in his ninth season as MSU head coach.

MSU has finished runner-up three times and third twice in the last eight seasons and will be looking for their first championship since 1991 when the OVC Championship is played April 26-28 in Dickson, Tenn., at Greystone GC.

MSU's first tournament of 2010 is the Jacksonville University Invitational to be held at the famous Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla. The event which is played at the same course where the PGA Tour Player's Championship is played happens Feb. 8-9.
