MSU Men's Golf Starts Spring With TPC at Sawgrass

The Murray State men's golf squad begins play today with 36 holes on one of the world's most famous courses when they tee off at the 2010 Jacksonville University Invitational.
The 54-hole event is being played at the PLAYERS Stadium Course at the TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedre, Fla.
The Racers are in the same field as top programs like Clemson, Wake Forest and East Tennessee State.
Serving as the tournament host is Jacksonville-native, 10-time PGA Tour winner and 1988 THE PLAYERS champion Mark McCumber. McCumber won the 1988 PLAYERS by four shots over Mike Reid, posting a final score of 13-under par for the week.
The 15-team event began Monday morning with two rounds scheduled to begin via a shotgun start at 8 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes, starting with tee times at 8 a.m.
Teams from across the country will be in the field. Other teams include East Carolina, Liberty, Old Dominion, Georgia State, Jacksonville State, Idaho, Charleston Southern, USC Upstate and Winthrop.
Fans will be able to follow the tournament through extensive coverage on the Internet. Hole-by-hole live scoring will be provided as well as live video of all the play on the famous 17th hole through Golfstat.com.
