Racers Compete At TPC Sawgrass

The Murray State Racers found the going rough in the opening round of the 2010 JU Invitational at the famed Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra, Fla.
The Racers had a first round 324 and stood in 14th place in the field of 15 teams.
MSU's team was three holes from completing round two when play was delayed because of darkness.
Cameron Carrico led the Racers with an 80 in round one and had a spot in 55th place in the field of 75 competitors, while Jared Wolfe and Chris Griffin each had an 81 in 52nd position. Nick Newcomb's 82 earned a spot in 48th place, while brother, Patrick Newcomb had an 87 for a spot in 65th place.
With the second round not yet complete, the Racers saw Wolfe, Nick and Patrick Newcomb all at 7-over par, while Griffin was 9-over and Carrico was 11-over for the round.
East Tennessee State was the leader when play was called with a total of 13-over par, while Clemson was in second place at 16-over. East Carolina was 23-over in third place, while Wake Forest was 26-over in fourth place.
The tournament will conclude Tuesday with the completion of the second round at 7:30 a.m. central time, with the final round played immediately after.
The 54-hole event hosted by Jacksonville University is being played at the site of the PGA Tour Players Championship and hosted by golfing great Mark McCumber.
