Murray State opened spring practice Friday afternoon as first-year head coach Chris Hatcher put the Racers through a fast-pace workout on the turf at Stewart Stadium. The Racers will return to practice Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Stewart Stadium. All practices are open to the public.
Head Coach Chris Hatcher
On his impressions of the first day of practice
“I thought that we worked hard and had good intensity. The guys want to learn, which is a positive sign. We didn't always know where to go, or how to execute the play properly, but it was the first day and we will build off today and hopefully be a little bit better tomorrow.”
On what he saw from his team in the first practice
“The big thing is the willingness to get better. I thought they were very coachable. I talk about being the most excited to play and the most excited to coach. We have to work through some semantics of where to go and that will get better over time. The main thing was we hustled. We didn't always know what to do, but we were sure enough trying hard to get to the right spot.”
On what he expects on the second day
“I want to be able to build off of day one. Just from the standpoint of how to practice, the tempo of practice and things of that nature, so we maximize the amount of time we have out here. We will put a few more new plays in tomorrow, on both sides of the ball, and it will start building up on those guys and we will see how much they can process.”
