MSU Men's Golf Ninth At FAU Spring Break Championship

The Murray State men's golf team rallied to a ninth-place finish at the FAU Spring Break Invitational Sunday at Gleneagles CC in Delray Beach, Fla., when they fired a 289, their best round in the 54-hole event.
MSU improved their score each day with totals of 298-293-289=880 to finish ahead of 10th place St. Mary's (Calif.) and Ohio State at 884 and 12th place Notre Dame at 885.
Illinois won the Florida Atlantic University hosted event for a second straight year with an 842, with Iowa taking second at 860 and Penn State finishing third at 862.
Nick Newcomb was MSU's top finisher with an 11th place showing after scores of 68-70-76=214, while Chris Griffin finished 39th after rounds of 76-74-73=223. Patrick Newcomb had scores of 77-72-75=224 for a spot in 45th place in the field of 93 competitors, while Jared Wolfe was 64th after carding rounds of 77-83-68=228. Cameron Carrico was 70th with scores of 79-77-73=229.
Nick Newcomb and Jared Wolfe each had a 3-under 68 for MSU's lowest round of the event. Newcomb's came in round one, while Wolfe's came in round three.
MSU's next action is April 5-6 in Nashville, Tenn., at the Big Blue Intercollegiate hosted by Tennessee State at King's Creek GC.
