INSIDE THE SERIES
The Breds and Demons are meeting for the first time on the baseball diamond. It is the third-straight season MSU is playing a team out of the Southland Conference, and the second trip to the state of Louisiana in the past three seasons.
Breds Head to Louisiana
The Breds are heading to the state of Louisiana for second time in the last three seasons. MSU traveled to Thibodaux, La. to take on Nicholls State in 2008.
Murray vs. the Southland
Murray State is playing a member of the Southland Conference for the third-straight season. MSU traveled to play Nicholls State (2-1) in 2008, while also playing a pair of mid-week games against Central Arkansas in 2008 and 2009, splitting the series both years.
Tiernan's Streak Ends
Senior Kyle Tiernan had his streak of 113 consecutive starts end Tuesday when he was given the day off against Belmont. He had started 107 games at shortstop before starting six games at second base this season.
Elliott Collects First Hit, RBIs
Freshman shortstop Brandon Elliott made the most of his first career start as he collected his first hit, a two-run single to right against Belmont.
