Racer Golf In 3rd At Samford Intercollegiate

The Murray State men's golf squad stood in third place after 36 holes of the 54-hole Samford Intercollegiate at Limestone Springs GC in Birmingham, Ala.
The Racers carded team scores of 293-293=586 and trailed second place Vanderbilt and leader Kennesaw State each at 575.
Individually, the Racers were led by Cameron Carrico who had scores of 72-71=143 for a spot in seventh in the field of 75 competitors, while Nick Newcomb was in 11th place after rounds of 71-74=145.
Chris Griffin's scores of 74-75=149 earned a spot in 24th, while Jared Wolfe and Patrick Newcomb were in 36th position at 151. Newcomb had rounds of 76-75 and Wolfe had scores of 78-73.
Fourth place in the field of 15 teams belonged to Evansville (589), while UT Martin (592), Samford (595), Georgia State (597), Eastern Kentucky (598), Belmont (598) and Houston Baptist (599) rounded out the top-10.
The final round begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. at the Limestone Springs course that is playing to a par of 72 and 6,987 yards.
