Donze Tosses Four Hitter as Breds Even Series With Jax State

Murray State junior left hander Jake Donze allowed just four hits and three runs in his second complete game of the season as the Breds evened the series with Jacksonville State with a 9-3 victory in the second game of a doubleheader Saturday afternoon at Rudy Abbott Field.
Donze (5-3) scattered the four hits over the seven innings and struck out five, while throwing 116 pitches.
The Breds (17-13, 5-3 OVC) got on the board in the second as Daniel Hill walked and scored on Bryan Propst's double off the top of the fence in left center.
MSU added to its lead in the third as Wes Cunningham and Hill drew one-out walks. Propst loaded the bases with a single to left and Colton Moore drove in two runs when his chopper up the middle found its way into center field. Propst stole third and scored when the ball made its way passed the third baseman into left field.
The Gamecocks (17-14, 6-2 OVC) got back into the game in the third as Sam Eberle reached on a fielder's choice and scored on Andrew Edge's two-run blast to left center.
The Breds added to their lead in the fourth as they scored three more runs in the frame. Zach Noonan walked ahead of Cunningham's one-out free pass. Hill drove in Noonan with a single through the left side and was followed by RBI hits through the left side from Propst and Moore.
JSU got a run on the board in sixth as Kyle Bluestein doubled to left field and went to third on Steven Leach's single to left. Jake Sharrock drove in Bluestein with a sacrifice fly to right field.
MSU plated two more runs in the seventh as Drew Pixley singled through the right side and went to third on Brandon Elliott's double to left center. Noonan beat out an infield single to load the bases and Kyle Tiernan drew a bases loaded walk. Cunningham followed with a sacrifice fly to left field.
Hunter Rivers (3-2) took the loss for JSU after he allowed four runs on two hits and five walks over 2.1 innings.
Propst led the offense by going 3-for-5 with a pair of RBIs. Moore added two hits and drove in three runs.
The two teams close out the three-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m.
