Racers Hold Final Scrimmage

The Murray State football team held it's final scrimmage of the Spring Saturday morning on the turf at Stewart Stadium.
The offense continued to move the ball as they scored on each of their first four possessions of the scrimmage. Sophomore quarterback Casey Brockman led the first-team offense on the opening drive and started things with a 20-yard completion to Ja-Vonta Trotter. Following completions to Josh Brown and Daniel Ard, Prince Nwagbara ran in from 10 yards out.
Senior Jeff Ehrhardt took the field on his first series and led the second-team offense on a seven play scoring drive. The big play on the drive was a 33-yard hook up with receiver Dexter Durrante. Ehrhardt capped the drive by connecting with Alex Estes on a 10-yard score.
Brockman's second drive started by facing a third down before finding Trotter for a 25-yard completion. Linebacker Mark Oliver tried to stop the driving by sacking Brockman, but Nwagbara came back and scampered in from two-yards out.
The defense finally got going a couple series later as Harry McCall scooped up a fumble and ran it in from 30 yards out. A few drives later, defensive backs John Jean Baptiste and Justin Clark broke up passes on back-to-back plays to stop the drive.
Trotter caught his third touchdown of the day as he capped off a 15-play drive by catching a 15-yard touchdown from Ehrhardt.
The team will hold practices Monday and Wednesday morning at 5:20 a.m. before holding the annual Blue and Gold Bowl Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m.
